France to me is this weird in-between. It's too Germanic to be Latin, but too Latin to be Germanic. French also sounds much harsher than other Romance languages.
Overall it's not Mediterranean either, save for the southern portion (which many action movies have filmed the hell out of). They're firmly Western European.
Also "Mediterranean" is more of a geographical term than a cultural term. It mostly applies to countries like Spain, Italy and Greece. Mainland Balkans for example is its own thing. Even most of Turkey is distinct from Mediterranean influence.

Actually ethno-linguistic and religious affiliation mean quite a bit. The French are much closer to Italians and Spaniards than they are to Germans or Dutch people. Due to geographic positoin they have more Germanic influence compared to the others, but definitely France to me is Southern-European leaning if not outright it. They are a Latin people.

Having seen pictures from Northern France, I'm now also inclined to consider France a Mediterranean country.

They are more south-western shifted than anything else.

I dont think France is a Mediterranean country but an African one.
