Spanish because it is one of the easier languages to learn, like English.

French & Russian because they are imperialistic in linguistic terms, they have replaced quite a lot of languages and have that potential.

    It also sounds menacingly provocative.

Hindi in the context of smearing poo on someone's jacket to insult him.

But I kid, it's an awesome language too. They're our Indo-European brothers.

It's cultural soft power that does more. I don't see how French and Russian different from English there. France only recognises the French language is all and Russians also have a poor record of preserving minority languages.

However, those French people I work with, we communicate in English for instance.

You also linked a Flemish film when using your 19th century Marxist rhetoric once. You did out of human curiosity despite living in the Francophone realm.

Mistranslation from French is the excuse ('délicieuse' in French isn't that explicit). Macron just went with that explanation by a journalist, but he did intended saying that. He's French after all, hon hon hon.

With the advances on automatic translators/artificail intelligence I guess soon no lingua franca will be needed.

Anyway an artificial, logic and easy to learn language like esperanto would be a better choice for lingua franca than any natural language.

And I flip out with some people saying spanish is easy... it's true that there're languages infinitely more difficult with load of flexions and all that, but spanish is hard to learn, any natural language requires a lot of effort and time, even english which must be the most simplified language ever.
