No, Southern Spain isn't really that much North African. Northwestern Spain is the most North African region of Spain according to DNA studies and results I've seen.

This admixture might not be really from the Moors. Southern Spaniards are less North African than Portuguese/Galicians/Asturians etc.

However it has to be said that Italy was probably the more despised and trolled european country here, a lot of spaniards/NW/western folks that in every topic that includes an italian would give "Armenoid", "Orientalid" to people that looked very regular italians and europeans. You can't say that Italians are "complexed" it's mostly that they are attacked/severely trolled, in real life I've never seen an italian complexed by his origins or his look NEVER.

Do not forget that these kind of discussions have their roots in NW-Europe/America, I don't think that either in Greece or in Italy people would ask themselves if they are more "Levant-Shifted" or more "West-Med", it's just a genetic discussion that most of the population really don't care. (and actually there are quite a few people that are proud from their "mixed heritage", I don't like this kind of thing but it exists I mean).

It happens both ways: Italians and Spaniards are darkwashed by foreigners, but at the same time some of their nationals lightwash them, pretending they look no diferent from Central Euros.
