Jackson Hole!? Haha.
It's so creepy what they do over there. They are missing the point. How about some originality? China is such a neat country with lots of history and culture, but they're disgracing themselves with this copycat nonsense.

They do build neo classical Chinese architecture there. This kind of shit is not any different than the tacky Paris or NYC themed casinos in Las Vegas. Of course, sensationalizing it sells news so the media focuses on this stuff.
This is an example of neo classical Chinese architecture in Xi'an for example.
The article references the city of Suzhou which I had been to two years ago. But the types of tacky plagiarized housing developments are nowhere near the city center and any visitor will have to go out of their way to some dusty suburb before seeing it. The actual city of Suzhou looks like this, there is an old classical city and a new city with futuristic architecture.
With that said, China right now is going through an industrial revolution on steroids combined with a business culture that is like America's gilded age, along with innumerable hoards of hustlers, showmen and opportunists, so there are all kinds of businessmen using any type of gimmick, whether it is rebuilding a Paris or an American suburb, that would help them sell houses. Plus given the fact that China is enormous and bigger than all of Europe combined, there is bound to be a number of crazy stories coming from whatever corner of the country. So the issue with tacky plagiarism does exist, but it's nowhere as all consuming as these media clips like to suggest.
But the reality is, this practice is actually starting to die down because the growing numbers of more sophisticated rich people who have actually been able to travel overseas and have seen the real Paris or Jackson Hole, see it as tacky. The irony is that many of China's super rich nowadays are going back to preferring traditional Chinese architecture to build their mansions.
This is the most expensive house sold in China as of last year.

What y'all fail to understand it's that they do that so their Army can train taking over these cities when China decides to conquer the world.

I'd rather visit Chinese Paris and Chinese London than the original versions.
