The search for enlightenment is the search to understand reality, derealization is the rejection of reality, it usually follows trauma. You may have seen it in yourself or a family member after the unexpected death of a loved one.

He has this weird philosophy about geometric shapes and nothing actually existed. He talks about it in an interview, and I don't think he's the only guy that's into it though. He's probably just depressed and reads too much mystic/conspiracy shit.

His shtick ran dry a long time ago, he's essentially a human cartoon that audiences tired of and cast aside. His whole career was based on visual slapstick comedy with no real comedic talent, he couldn't deliver a joke to save his life. I believe 2014-2015 was when he lost his fucking mind and became a shut-in "artist".

Now, he's attempting to reinvent himself as a 'contemplative artist' spouting lame political art to try and leave a legacy beyond movies, and being a political commentator. If he actually had something of real substance to say, people might give him a chance, but he's failing hard on that.

However, Jim Carrey wasn't a cucked liberal in his movies like most Hollywood celebrities, being cool with depicting himself chloroforming black athletes and burning his clothes after finding out that a transvestite kissed him lel.
