As time passed that kingdom incorporated others to the southern territories. It was this word which passed into Middle English as Albany, although very rarely was this used for the Kingdom of Scotland, but rather for the notional Duchy of Albany. Old Europeans: Thracians, Illyrians, Celts, Anatolians etc.. = Defeated people, assimilated into various cultures.

New Europeans: Franks (French), New British (Saxons), Various Goths and other Germanic people (E.U) = Winners.

It is logical that you haven't heard for Albanians for they are recent nation built upon the mixed leftovers of Old Europeans.
