A small example: even a few years ago you couldn't find any skin lightening products at cosmetic counters, pharmacies etc, or they were mostly marketed for black women to help remove hyperpigmentation spots with hydroquinone. Sunscreen? Only for the beach. Then Korean/Japanese cosmetics hit the West, it's a huge trend, now every big and small brand has "skin brightening" products and facial sunscreens in all forms, now everyone is saying how bad the sun is for you, etc.

The amazing part is the UK has a population of 65 million and California only has 40 million, yet the UK has a smaller economy. The UK is the country that should look in mirror.
