Did my research as well and seems legit. For some reason I had never heard of the East Karelian concentration camps before. When you think you've heard everything about II Word War related themes for countless times something new pops up.

Still 4,000+ Soviets perished in those camps (about 13% of their POW). But as the war progressed their circumstances improved. Mannerheim did allow the Red Cross to check up on their well-being. Concentration camps aren't necessary for warfare. More so for the kids! Have Flemish kids been in concentration camps? What was the percentage of their mortality? Are the numbers acceptable by you? Are you OK with people glorifying the murderers of those people?

You see that FS puts eternal shame on Russians only for belonging to the country that once waged war on hers. But she feels no shame to glorify a murderer only because he was 'defending' Finland. That's hypocrisy. Those murders weren't necessary at all.

According to what I read the purpose of the detention was allegedly to secure the area behind the front lines against partisan attacks but the civilians were left to die from starvation and diseases.

What I don't get is how they got Ukrainian civilians there, East Karelia is not even that close to Ukraine.

Soviet authorities used to resettle people quite freely. So, it was possible.

Sure, children and women could make partisans that would be 'very dangerous' to the Finnish army...
