We’re going to take you on one of the most spectacular train rides in all of Europe: starting in Oslo, we’re heading cross-country through fascinating mountain terrain, passing lakes and rivers and waterfalls, and then by boat through a vast fjord, finally we will be arriving later in the day at the ancient capital of Norway the town of Bergen. This special trip is called Norway in a Nutshell. Showing you a big cross-section of the country in just one day.

Presentation of Norway's history and contribution to Western defense and the Atlantic Community. "Introducing Norway" is part of a series originally designed as "Know your Allies", and finally titled "the Atlantic Community Series". Its objectives were to familiarize public opinion in each of the member country with the other Alliance members and to emphasize the national contributions to Western culture and political traditions, economic reconstruction and allied defense in the framework of NATO. The series was produced between 1954 and 1956 and financed by the US government in the context of the Marshall Plan with the cooperation of the Information Service of NATO, and distributed by NATO. The films in the Atlantic Community Series received large non-theatrical distribution and, in some cases, were shown in cinemas and on TV. Language versions were made and distributed with the help of the national governments. “My country and NATO” tells the story of each one of NATO’s members, using a selection of unique archival materials to take you back in time. Further information: This video reviews the train journey from Bergen to Oslo, Norway in October 2017. Captions will give you further information and tips about this very scenic journey. This train is run by Norway national state railways: NSB (Norges Statsbaner AS - since April 2019 NSB was rebranded as Vy). I read so much about it and unfortunately a previous trip to Oslo didn't give me the chance to experience this epic train journey on the Bergen Line (Bergensbanen). Known for its wet weather, Bergen offered a stunning sunny and crisp weather for my stay there and (apart for some morning mist), I enjoy the same sunny weather during my journey to Oslo. The views were spectacular and the autumn colours added a special dimension to the landscape offered. The time flew past and the changing landscape from fjords, barren high altitude plateau, snow capped mountains and pine forests and lakes kept my attention high throughout the journey. I can't recommend enough this experience. Is it one of Europe's or the World's best train journey? You decide - maybe from this video or experiencing for yourself.
