I'm not necessarily disagreeing, but no I don't think ADMIXTURE is 100% accurate when you wanna calculate actual ancestry. I was just asking if you guys in the Anglo-World only apply the term Norse to the Norwegian vikings(which in Scandinavia all Vikings are included).
I think everyone should be somewhat critical and not take every study that comes out in the auDNA field 100% seriously. A lot of papers coming out now contradict eachother.

On the use of the term Norse, I've seen it applied in both ways, namely as a term for all Scandos of the Viking period but also more specifically applied to the West Norse, i.e. Norwegians, Orcadians, Shetlanders, Faroese, Icelanders, etc.

Well I'm open to argument but still what I've said above is valid. Historical events seem to back up these studies. They are using modern populations though and I do agree that they need genomes from different eras. They really should be able to test Viking genomes or have they already? They also need to test British and Irish from different periods.
The only thing that puzzles me is the differences in the German/Danish (Anglo-Saxon) and the Norwegian in the different parts of Ireland and Britain that appears to support the conclusion of the geneticists.

Yes I was under the impression that Norse were just Norwegians but from what I read after your posts they all spoke Norse or Old Norse so I can see that they would all be called Norse. They most likely might have been more genetically similar during the Viking era so that would need to be tested as well. I'm sure these questions will all be answered eventually.

Anyway that map is showing ydna not autosomal admixture but still interesting.

To be honest it's all been a learning curve for me. I was brought up to believe Irish were fully Celtic and didn't get any mixture even from the Brits. That's how a lot of Irish used to think?
Not sure but I think autosomal is not lower or higher than Y-DNA
