The Greeks were never a pure race. That is a Victorian Nothern European piece of pseudo science along with all Greek temples and statues being monochrome. Greeks were merchants and still are.

I wish we had more ancient DNA from classical Greece, that would be super interesting. Following the logic, classical Greeks will have been something intermediate between the 6th century woman and the Mycenaeans. I agree that there are no "pure races", if not in geographically isolated places. Humans are not stones, they move and DNA changes.

We have plenty of Classical and Ancient Greek DNA available. However sadly, the vast majority of Greek archaeologists are far leftists. They associate historical patriotism generated through ancestry as a 'fascist' ideal. As a result they dislike genetic tests on bones. They promise to do them but rarely do. Whenever a set of bones are analised (usually by foreigners or Greeks living outside Greece) they show that Ancient Greek peoples never died out or dissapeared. For example, the direct descendants of the Myceneans are still living around Lasithi in Crete and indeed across Greece.

They should also analyze something of Iron Age Italy, we currently have very little ancient DNA from Italy... My God, I saw the last link and it would be really interesting if they analyzed them!
