In Louisiana, French is spoken in the Cajun (or Acadian) Communities. The State of Louisiana recognizes French as a mainstream language there.

I thought English is the official language of the USA, didnt know they dont have a official language. Well it should be english yes. A second language should be learned too, but not being officiall but inofficial.

If a second language is learned, it should be Pennsylvania Dutch, which is actually American.

When I was in the bayou, I heard some weird French. It's pretty interesting. It's more like a pidgin French though.

English is already clearly the premier language of the USA. Making it official just formalizes the obvious reality. It doesn't change anything really.

The French they are speaking is still very simple. It sounds to me the younger ones speak English more often, but the elders speak a more genuine French from the sounds of it.

One reason I prefer the EU over the US is our linguistic diversity. But the US does have dying Amerindian languages that sadly are on the verge of extinction, even though languages like Navajo or Lakota is rather well-preserved. I wish Anglos cared more about their survival.

I've even once read an article written by a Lakota woman who wasn't a fan of whites learning her language, having picked up destructed SJW rhetoric which indirectly bites the survival of her language in the ass.
