I always feel better about my place on the Autistic spectrum when other people are called Autists. It makes me feel as if actual autism pales in comparison to the condition of those called autists. I'd rather have a disorder anyways than be unhealthy and end up expressing myself in a way that actually makes people call me autistic... Nothing feels better to an autist than simply taking their condition for granted-- which is what happens on the internet but not IRL.
edit: I don't really attach any meaning to impersonal categories though, to me they are mostly just for amusement. It's kinda just lighthearted fun. But when people start assuming serious things about you based on those categories with blind confidence then there's no fun to be had... categorism only works when no one is afraid of who they are or who they might be. If you are confident in who you are then you shouldn't back down from silly meaningless categories
