Default Large study on Christianity in Western Europe

    Being Christian in Western Europe

The majority of Europe’s Christians are non-practicing, but they differ from religiously unaffiliated people in their views on God, attitudes toward Muslims and immigrants, and opinions about religion’s role in society.

The Pew Research Center study – which involved more than 24,000 telephone interviews with randomly selected adults, including nearly 12,000 non-practicing Christians – finds that Christian identity remains a meaningful marker in Western Europe, even among those who seldom go to church. It is not just a “nominal” identity devoid of practical importance.

The figure of people calling themselves Christian seems to be about 70%,same as the US. However, when you take those numbers apart, less actually believe in doctrine than here.

Looks like Italians are the least accepting of their children marrying non Christians.

Was saddened that small majority of Western European practicing and also large majority of nonPracitising accepting gay "marriage" and abortion.
Plus it appears most especially the Northern countries are okay with Muslims and Jews marrying.

Probably true, though in Western Europe it appears many Cultural and/or Lapsed Christians are still identifying as Christian. Americans are more practicing
Though in both places the numbers fall over last several decades.

If you want to be real and pick apart the numbers, the number of Bible believing, somewhat socially conservative Christians is between 25-40%. That is more than I would expect from modern day Western Europe, but most of that is probably coming from older, rural people and some immigrants as well.

Christianity in the US without old world roots (not Catholic, Episcopalian, Lutheran, Presbyterian, etc.) are odd as fuck. There was a Christian group (I don't remember what they called themselves) by a pizzeria I'd go to when I was a kid and you would hear them jamming on guitars if you walked by. It just seemed weird to me.

You can walk into a church of one of the Old World Christian sects and people are basically normal. They're just regular people. They don't get into hysterics and being all weird or show up at your door with their kids dressed in suits trying to give you a pamphlet or whatever... It's weird.

You don't get this weirdness in Europe.

The Apostles and early Christians were probably like that. There was probably a whole lot of weirdness and zeal we'll never know about since it doesn't mesh well with the gravitas of the KJV.
