    Esatto. Lingue non-Indoeuropee si parlavano ovunque in Europa, prima delle grandi migrazioni indoeuropee. Solo che pochissime lingue non-Indoeuropee sono sopravvissute fino alla diffusione dell'alfabeto/scrittura. E quindi oggi ci sembrano più strane di quello che erano in origine.

    Non capisco perché la città di Udine è stata classificata come Gallica quando in realtà Odin è una divinità germanica.
    Anche ho pensato che Milano fu fondata dagli celti.

    Vitulos is not a Greek word in origin, it's thought to be an Oscan word, so an Italic word that entered the Greek from Oscan (with the meaning of land of bulls/cattle) and then the Greeks spread it. Of course it derives from a IE root.


    Oscan víteliú, Latin vitulus, Umbrian vitlu.

    vabbe in ogni caso la radice derivata dall' IE non sarà stata cosi' diversa. VTL/ WTL poi tra velarizzazioni e sonorizzazioni può cambiare un po', certo

    La tua prof del liceo ha insistito dicendoti che è di origine greca? Strano, perché c'è grande consenso sul fatto che fosse una parola in origine usata dagli Oschi. Ovviamente una parola usata con quell'accezione, perché è quella particolare accezione ad aver creato l'etnonimo.
