Genetically British vs culturally British

Some guy told me I was American and adopted so I'm not British. I know I'm not culturally British but do you guys think I'm genetically British? It passed me off because I'm not super happy about being American, it's slightly embarrassing at times since there's a bit of non cultured and somewhat ignorant people here (not everyone! Please no offense to my American brethren!!)

I think its a lot for an American, most of us have 20% of 5 different ethnicities lol

"British" is a nationality more than an ehtnicity, really. English, Welsh, Scottish & Irish are more ethnically defined terms, albeit all of them are indeed ethnically British also. Now, when a Briton is born overseas then using the hyphenated British-American, or British-Argentinian etc... as an ethnic denomyn makes sense.

Since your ancestry is majority British already, mostly English/Welsh, you're an Anglo-American. Just start learning about the history and customs of England/Britain and you'll be fine.
