Should Galicia reunite with Portugal?

É innegable que o galego e o portugués comparten unha gran parte da súa historia e foron a mesma lingua durante moito tempo. Pero tamén é innegable que a historia de Galiza pasa por España. Evidentemente o galego ten influencia do castelán. É parte da nosa historia, da nosa cultura e da nosa xente. Se vas a olvidar toda a evolución que tivo o idioma e o pobo galego dende que é unha lingua distinta ao portugués, invítoche a ignorar tamén a evolución que tivo o galego-portugués dende que se separou do latín. Non ten propósito tratar de olvidar a nosa historia e o noso pasado. Eu como medio galego sintome en casa cando estou en Portugal en xeral, pero Galiza é Galiza e o galego é o galego. Unha cousa é que nós, hoxe, como falantes, fagamos o posible para que non se deixe de falar a nosa lingua, para que hoxe non sigan o castelán ou o inglés comendo terreo ao noso vocabulario. Estemos orgullosos de quen somos e do que falamos e fagamos todo o posible por mantelo e recordalo.

My nephew studied recently for six months at the university of La Coruna at some student exchange program and as I was told it was in Spain. After he returned I asked if he learnt some Spanish, he answered they were taught only in English and one cannot learn Spanish there because local people speak different.

lol, that is false. People from La Coruña speaks Castilian (what the world knows for Spanish). Galician is spoken in the small villages only.

Some Galicians don't feel that way though.

You know very well these Galicians were supporting Portugal not because they feel close or like Portugal but because they are separatists. They would support any team that played against Spain.

Northern Galicians call Portuguese to Southern Galicians as an insult, when football is involved, just sayin. An example
