Galicians are more similar to the Portuguese than they are to Catalans or Andalusians, for example.
    Are they really?

There is no reason to change what already exists.

The types predominant there are different strains of Atlantids, Berids and Atlanto-Mediterranids. Western Iberia is at the same time more Celtic-Germanic and more neolithic North African than the rest of Iberia, I think the similarities between Galicia and Portugal are way bigger than the ones between Galicia and the rest of Spain. The differences are less pronounced today due to Castillian cultural imperialism and unionism, what is a racist attitude against the Galician people, who should join their blood brothers in Portugal. Coon stated that phenotypes like Exotic Nordic, for example, were far more prevalent in Western Iberia/Galicia/Portugal than in the rest of the peninsula. Probably Berid and other CM types are more common there than in the rest of Iberia too.
You are quite knowledgeable and correct about the genetic differences, even though they are still subtle when comparing with the rest of Iberia if we exclude ethnic Basques.

    Where are you from?

I do. But i also understand castillian. My point was that saying portuguese and galician are the same language is a bit of a stretch.

Galician and Portuguese are different languages, even though they share the same origin (Galaico-Portuguęs). The words we use are similar, same with grammar patterns, but the pronunciation has developed quite differently throughout the centuries.

Still completely understandable and by the far most similar language to ours, more so than Castilian (which is already quite similar to Portuguese).

Well said, Ave. This is one of the thousands of useless threads on TA, discussing here will not change anything. You are all plebeians and you will never have the ability to change politics or humanity. Galicia will still Spain. Although I predict that many idle will waste time debating here.
