The archaic, phenotypical Nordic strains originally is of Steppic origin/extraction. So I would place its origin in Eastern Europe/Western Steppe/Asia region. That eventually made its way into Jutland/North Sea region/Scandinavia via the Corded Ware culture where the Nordic strain mixed with Scandinavian Mesolithic genetics. Whereas Eastern Europe most likely preserved the Nordic strain in its "pure" state since it is originally from this region. Proto-Germanic as a proto-Indo-European language hybridized with Proto-Norse that gave rise to what we know as Germanic languages today.
“The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far. The sciences, each straining in its own direction, have hitherto harmed us little; but some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new dark age.”

Pretty much this in a nutshell. All you have to do is logically follow the dots, Nordic strains are more common in Northern Europe, Baltic area and Northeastern Europe in different phenotypical varieties where Steppic ancestry is most preserved. Whereas "Mediterranean" phenotypical varieties are a mix between Neolithic and Hunter-gatherer genetics from the Early Neolithic period onwards. This Mediterranean presence is strongest in Southern and Southwestern Europe; then sporadically present in Southeast, Central and Northwestern Europe as a mixed strain with other elements.
