Odd thread. Honestly I think it depends where you go. There are places more heavily settled by British descendants, particularly the South(east), and New England, some parts of the West like Utah, some of those mountain states, parts of Texas, certain parts of Midwest (although that's become pretty German).

Virginia and Maryland look rather English to me, but not in the negative stereotypical way some are seen today. I think the colonists came from certain different parts of England, but mostly the east which was more Anglo Saxon or Viking settled presumably.

It's true Germans settled heavily in large parts of the middle and north-central parts of the country, along with Irish (which aren't that different from Brits), and Scotch-Irish or Ulster Scots.

Still Americans are considerably less British than Canada, at least today.

Doubt anyone even talks about their specific ancestry in those areas, they just see themselves as White at this point. Also, if you live in California you will see a lot of recent European immigrants (including Balkanoids like yourself), who fly their own countries' flags on their cars.
