Presentation of Canada's history and contribution to Western defense and the Atlantic Community.

"Introducing Canada" is part of a series originally designed as "Know your Allies", and finally titled "the Atlantic Community Series". Its objectives were to familiarize public opinion in each of the member country with the other Alliance members and to emphasize the national contributions to Western culture and political traditions, economic reconstruction and allied defense in the framework of NATO.

The series was produced between 1954 and 1956 and financed by the US government in the context of the Marshall Plan with the cooperation of the Information Service of NATO, and distributed by NATO. The films in the Atlantic Community Series received large non-theatrical distribution and, in some cases, were shown in cinemas and on TV. Language versions were made and distributed with the help of the national governments.

“My country and NATO” tells the story of each one of NATO’s members, using a selection of unique archival materials to take you back in time.

Présentation de l'histoire du Canada et de la contribution du pays à la défense occidentale et à la communauté atlantique.

Le court métrage « Images du Canada » fait partie d’une série initialement intitulée « Know your Allies », puis rebaptisée « The Atlantic Community Series ». L’objectif de cette série était d’aider le public de chacun des pays de l’Alliance à se familiariser avec les autres pays membres, ainsi que de mettre en lumière les contributions des différents pays aux traditions politiques et culturelles occidentales, à la reconstruction économique et à la défense des Alliés dans le cadre de l’OTAN.

Produits entre 1954 et 1956 en coopération avec le Service d'information de l'OTAN, ces courts métrages ont été financés par les pouvoirs publics des États-Unis dans le cadre du plan Marshall et ont été distribués par l’OTAN. Ils ont été largement diffusés, parfois même au cinéma et à la télévision. Certains ont été traduits et distribués avec l’aide des pays concernés.

Les articles « My country and NATO » racontent l’histoire de chacun des pays membres de l’OTAN en s’appuyant sur une sélection de documents d’archives tout à fait uniques qui vous feront remonter le temps.

Canadian madness at its finest:

A wild lynx got an earful from a farmer in British Columbia after it attacked a chicken coop on Feb. 21.

Chris Paulson managed to grab the lynx by the scruff of its neck when it refused to leave the henhouse.

B.C. officials are reminding people that those kind of interactions with wildlife are dangerous and illegal.
