He said that he likes France, so I don't believe that he is German.

Every true German hates France, they even have a song about it:

You can't imagine how hard and long Germans tried to convince my ancestors that we should have been Germans.

But we have successfuly resisted all attempts of Germanisation. Ever heard about von Bismarck and Kulturkampf?
