It's really amazing to see how far N. Italians (Lombards) are from Greeks in comparison with all other Italians who plot much closer.

Even Slavs like Bulgarians and Macedonians plot closer to Greece than N. Italians.

Some Peloponnesian Greeks are definitely closer to Abruzzo and Southern Italians though.

Some Peloponnesian Greeks are definitely closer to Abruzzo and Southern Italians though.

They are closer to the "northern" shifting ones -- Syracuse, Apulia, Trapani. Not to southern Calabria or anything.

Though if you look you also see some Aegean islanders like Crete, Chios, and the Cyclades are also close to southern Peloponnesians.

With the exception of a tiny minority of southern Peloponnesians, most mainland Greeks are closer on here to the north and central Italians than to the far southerners. Most southern Italians on the plot do not even appear in this screenshot, only the northern plotting ones do.
