18 mai 1990 : le TGV A-325 s'élance dans une course folle pour battre le record de 1981 (380 km/h) et le pulvérise en atteignant la vitesse de 515,3 km/h. Une commande de 100 TGV nouvelle génération a été approuvée le jeudi 26 juillet par le conseil d’administration de SNCF Mobilités pour un montant de près de 3 milliards d’euros. SNCF renouvelle son parc afin de maintenir son offre commerciale à grande vitesse et pour se préparer à la concurrence de demain.

Le 3 avril 2007, la rame TGV V150 (150 mètres par seconde), pulvérisait le record du monde de vitesse sur rail, en atteignant 574,8 Km/h, au point kilométrique 194 de la Ligne à Grande Vitesse Est-Européenne. Ce record a été réalisé au terme d'une période d'investigations entreprises par RFF (Réseau Ferré de France), Alstom et la SNCF, dans le cadre de la campagne sur l'excellence française de la très grande vitesse ferroviaire.

In 1900, the Petite Ceinture railway carried 38 million passengers in a single year. But by 1934 its stations were closed forever. What happened? Why was it abandoned? And why do the tracks seem to have been kept in good condition? I went to Paris to find out more...
