Is "White Southerner" an ethnicity?

Some Southerners might say so.

I think given enough time there would have been distinct ethnogenesis that would have emerged, just like among White Americans as a whole. I think certain genetic/ethnic lines are more concentrated in the South than elsewhere. Scots-Irish for instance.

I consider my ethnicity to be “white Southerner” which is mostly Anglo-Celtic with other minor admixtures.

I can see how they would. Same way the Quebecois are their own thing, distinct from the French.

Mind you, as a Canadian who's ancestors were in English Canada from the beginning, in part back to the loyalists, and whom helped establish Anglo-Canada, my family has been here long enough that we have zero ties to Europe. So I define my identity with North America.

In the spirit of full disclosure btw, I don't support maintaining our relationship with the crown.

Not sure but could include any European. I had a distant relative (Greek American) who fought for the confederates in the civil war.
