The Queen’s favourite food REVEALED – and she won’t leave home without it
ROYAL fans would be forgiven for thinking the Queen’s favourite food is lobster tails or caviar.

But in fact the monarch has much simpler tastes.

Her Majesty’s favourite food has today been revealed as the humble chocolate biscuit cake.

SWEET TOOTH: The Queen's favourite food has been revealed

And she is said to refuse to leave home without the treat.

The Queen loves the cake so much she makes sure she has a slice every single day.

Former Royal Chef Darren McGrady revealed the monarch’s sweet tooth.

Mr McGrady, who served up his culinary creations to the Royals for 15 years, said: “Now the chocolate biscuit cake is the only cake that goes back again and again and again every day until it’s all gone.”

But the Queen watches her waistline with a healthy daily diet of grilled fish or chicken with vegetables, Mr McGrady said.

She is also said to enjoy fresh fruits and salad.

The chef added: “With a banana, she’ll cut off the bottoms and cut the banana lengthwise, and then cut the banana into tiny slices to eat it with a fork.

However, Her Majesty is believed to dislike garlic with chefs instructed not to add it to her food.

“We can never serve anything with garlic or too many onions,” Mr McGrady added.

And she insists on her meat being cooked well done.

Grandsons Prince Harry and Prince William and their late mum Princess Diana are also said to be huge fans of the chocolate biscuit cake.

When we learned that the Queen of England is obsessed with this Chocolate Biscuit Cake, a decadent layering of chocolate and rich tea biscuits (the most dunkable of English cookies), we knew it was the sweet for us. And what better way to celebrate the best of Britain than to pay homage to the cake that even the House of Windsor can’t do without?

This cake was even served at the 2011 wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. The Royal affection for this cake goes so deep that she won’t travel without it—seriously. Her personal chef follows behind wherever she goes, whether to Windsor Castle or beyond, with a tin packed full of the chocolaty affair. Insiders say that the staff can often partake in leftovers of other cakes and biscuits after the Royals have had their fill, but apparently, Her Majesty never gets her fill of Chocolate Biscuit Cake.

As Darren McGrady, her personal chef for 15 years, said in an interview with RecipesPlus, “She’ll take a small slice every day until eventually there is only one tiny piece, but you have to send that up, she wants to finish the whole of that cake.” That means she notices if a slice has gone missing. And though Tower imprisonment is no longer a consequence in the modern era, no one wants to stand between the Queen and her cake! So, trot out the rich tea biscuits and the chocolate to make our take on the Queen’s favorite (with inspiration from the Royal chef, of course) We firmly believe this Chocolate Biscuit Cake is the perfect indulgence for any baking queen.

    The Royal Wedding Cake Recipe

Here is the official recipe we used to use in the royal kitchens at Buckingham Palace to make the Chocolate Biscuit Cake that Prince William has chosen for his wedding cake.

    Makes 1 cake – 10 portions

Her Majesty the Queens favourite afternoon tea cake by far. This cake is probably the only one that is sent into the Royal dining room again and again until it has all gone.

4 ounces dark chocolate.(for the cake)

    4 ounces granulated sugar.

    4 ounces unsalted butter. (softened)

    1 egg.

    8 ounces Rich tea biscuits.

    ½ teaspoon butter for greasing.

8 ounces dark chocolate (for coating)

    1 ounce chocolate (for decoration)

    1. Lightly grease a 6 inch by 2 ½ inch cake ring and place on a tray on a sheet of parchment paper.
    2. Break each of the biscuits into almond size pieces by hand and set aside.
    3. Cream the butter and sugar in a bowl until the mixture starts to lighten.
    4. Melt the 4 ounces of chocolate and add to the butter mixture whilst constantly stirring.
    5. Beat in the egg to the mixture.
    6. Fold in the biscuit pieces until they are all coated with the chocolate mixture.
    7. Spoon the mixture into the prepared cake ring. Try to fill all of the gaps on the bottom of the ring because this will be the top when it is un-molded.
    8. Chill the cake in the refrigerator for at least three hours.
    9. Remove the cake from the refrigerator and let it stand while you melt the 8 ounces of chocolate.
    10. Slide the ring off the cake and turn it upside down onto a cake wire.
    11. Pour the melted chocolate over the cake and smooth the top and sides using a palette knife.
    12. Allow the chocolate to set at room temperature.
    13. Carefully run a knife around the bottom of the cake where the chocolate has stuck it to the cake wire and lift it onto a tea plate.
    14. Melt the remaining 1 ounce of chocolate and use to decorate the top of the cake.
