Default Yerba Mate. What am I doing wrong?

I bought some and it tastes like twigs and dried grass clippings. If it's so popular down Argentina way, I must surely be doing something wrong.

    Enlighten me please.

It's supposed to be bitter, if you don't like the flavor you can and sugar to it, you can also make a tee and add milk sugar or whisky to it.

I'll finish what I have here off and stick with other hot drinks then. Cheers.

They have a Yerba Mate cocktail at the 7 Eleven here mixed with green and other teas. I didn't notice much of a kick. Is the feeling supposed to be different from regular tea?

There used to be a health food store near my workplace that sold Yerba Mate tea and I really liked the pomegranate flavor, but none of the other flavors worked for me.

You have to drink a liter of water mixed with 100grm of yerba to feel the effect, it's like coffee but smoother and last more time.
