I know what he means. I question how he can possibly be in such denial after reading through the lyrics if his position is in fact that the lyrics do not reflect any resentment and by extension, jealousy. Do I need to go pick out the lines we all know indicate such jealousy?

I think you don't know how to speak Spanish. The only verse that could indicate resentment is this:
Wasn't it the white people who came from Spain
the ones who killed us for gold and silver,
wasn't there a Pizarro who killed Atahualpa,
after many promises, pretty and fake.
Still, that's nothing compared to what negroes in your country write about you.
