The view that Turks in Turkey are alright and not at all like the stoneage islamists we got here is fairly common

But ofc with the election of Erdogan its crumbling

All I see is that like every country, Turkey is diverse from Region to Region, the West like Bosporus seems to be very western while other parts are very conservative

Thus they live with the impression that the average Turk is the "white Turk", but those are a minority in Turkey because they never gave a shit about the "black Turks" and failed to assimilate them to civilization. Touristic parts are filled with those "black Turks" and tourism industry is particularly a "black Turk" occupation.
