The view that Turks in Turkey are alright and not at all like the stoneage islamists we got here is fairly common
But ofc with the election of Erdogan its crumbling
All I see is that like every country, Turkey is diverse from Region to Region, the West like Bosporus seems to be very western while other parts are very conervative

He had the guts to help lead the charge for Germany to recognize the Armenian Genocide. And, it was successful. So, it doesn't surprise me that he's hated by Turkey: "German MPs came under pressure from Turks in the run-up to the vote, receiving threatening and abusive e-mails."

Cem Özdemir, a Circassian Turk, has been the target of Turkish death threats, because he was willing to make a principled stand, in Germany, for the recognition of the Armenian Genocide. The Erdogan Regime sees him as a traitor because he supported the Armenian Genocide Resolution, in Germany.
Death threats became an everyday occurrence for Cem, for that reason only: "Özdemir sent a letter regarding the incident to Berlin’s Union of Taxi Drivers. He added that one of the main reasons he was threated was due to Germany’s adoption of the resolution recognizing the Armenian Genocide."

Your accusation against Cem Özdemir is baseless and purely vindictive.
This is a fact: The government of Turkey is delinquently wading in slush funds that facilitate lobby activities against the recognition of the Armenian Genocide. The government of Turkey has diplomatically threatened to break ties with numerous countries whom have proposed to recognize the Armenian Genocide. Turkey's pal Azerbaijan is doing the same sort of thing. Meanwhile, Armenia is a poor country, and doesn't have the means to promote that kind of subversive behavior, even if they want to do so.

"The government of Turkey has channeled funds into a supposedly objective research institute in the United States, which in turn paid the salary of a historian who served that government in its campaign to discredit scholarship on the Armenian Genocide . . . Three documents are produced in full. They include a letter . . . received from the Turkish Ambassador to the United States, and two [incriminating] documents that were inadvertently included."

Turkish agents and lobbyists have bribed and blackmailed American politicians. In 2009, FBI translator and whistleblower Sibel Edmonds provided courtroom testimony about the blackmailing and bribing of US Politicians, for the purpose of defeating Armenian Genocide Recognition legislation.
