God allowed slavery. It helped the Africans become Christianized. Slaves had a much better life than most poor factory workers, or they would have in Africa. They would have died over there. Most slaves were lazy and didn't work very hard. It's this myth about slavery that they teach about people being brutally whipped all the time. Why would you mistreat people that you need to do a good job? I'm glad slavery in America is over, but unfortunately, it continues today in many places. But it also helped the Negroes become Christian.

Robert E. Lee was an exceptional general and a genuine gentleman. His ultimate defeat was inevitable because of the South's lack of resources. He had to win quickly before the South ran out of strategic materiel. This proved to be impossible.

That's right, he was a brilliant general, and a man of integrity. During the last two decades, there's been a more prevalent politically correct (pc) iconoclastic mood among modern historians.

I don't see how anyone could call this man a terrible person, since he defended his homeland of Virginia. He was liked by both North and South. I like most Confederate leaders, with the possible exception of Nathan Bedford Forrest

This book review is a good example of what has gone wrong with 21st Century Civil War Historians: It's exasperating that Elizabeth Brown Pryor's Lee biography was able to win the Lincoln Award. Her writing style was entertaining, but her understanding of history was like a train wreck driving though the hundreds of pages. Brion McClanahan methodically debunked Elizabeth Pryor's Lee biography, and he debunked her PC condemnations of the Confederate general. The subject is deep and complex, but anyone with patience can realize that this is about an iconoclastic character assassination.

Well, the KKK was noble when it started (mostly to protect Southern white women from being raped by out of control Negroes), but it was a bit extreme even for some that created it, realized it, so it fizzled out. But that's not why I don't like him. He just doesn't seem very warm and Christian like General Lee.
