Default Grim choice for Australian voters

Uselessness to the Power of Two

    shorten-turnbull-future-960x540.jpg

Australians confront a grim choice: a purported conservative who is nothing of the kind and an unctuously insincere main-chancer who makes the skin crawl. Labor doesn’t deserve to win and the Liberals deserve to lose, but one party will -- and the country will go right on being stiffed and stuffed....It’s a choice between bad and worse, but often hard to know which is which! Perhaps the best thing for the forthcoming federal election might be for voters to forget parties and focus on candidates, supporting those with stimulating ideas, strong records and good characters.

So the liberal party of Australia is actually the conservative party?

It sucks here because there's really no alternative party that can really threaten the establishment parties. For you guys I hope Merkel goes, she's been a disaster for Germany.

Its the exact same crap in Canada. Dont even vote. Anyone who has decent views even shifts into big camp and becomes more liberal once in office.
They dont want to make the rainbow flag weirdos, feminists and abortionists angry.

Actually even in England and USA many of the conservative are lite. High Tories or New Right/Old Right are less in power than Theresa May or Bush types. Occasionally USA gets Reagan or Trumps. England has Rees Mogg or UKIP.

Most parties in the region have shifted to a centrist based model with leanings one way or the other. It means generally, there will be no shocks for the people nor the economy with a change of government.

The article itself is just a political whinge fest with little of substance, the same old, same old.

The quality of politician matters but at least Australia is still producing men and women with a pro Australian world view. People still willing to give the finger to others when required.
