When I was younger and naive I felt sympathy for serbs in the yugoslav conflict but gradually began to understand that if there was a stronger sense of unity among them they would have much more power and influence and would be better put economically, family fights can get nasty real quick and can hold grudges for long times

Federalism brought by Tito destroyed Yugoslavia. If it continued as a unitarian centralized state, Yugoslavia would have survived.
