This is pretty normal for most older countries with very rooted communities.

Very normal and common, that's how languages are born, from slight differences in accents and then years and years of isolation or self governing, of course.
All around me are familiar faces, worn out places, worn out faces

Nope. In US big cities they speak standard American English. People in Houston dont have a Southern accent at all, only small town rednecks sounds country. In Brazil every State have an unique accent which we can tell there are no Standard Brazilian Portuguese accent.

Can u even read? In big cities they all speak "Standard American English". A guy from Texas said on this blog comments:

He wrote in Portuguese, i will put it on google translate:

Hi Carina! I like the post! I'm Texano, I was born in Houston. I lived in Rio 5 years and I go to Sampa next year ..... just wanted to clarify some things. The Texas accent has a culture and history behind it, and much like you explained in the post. But in Brazil everyone was shocked when I told them I was from Texas. I do not have an accent. Hmm, the Texan accent just exists outside the big cities. I think it's an American phenomenon. In the United States, talking to a person who was born in a metropolis, is less than 40 years old, formed and was created with access to net and cable tv - everyone has the same accent independent of the state - we call "standard american english." When I arrived in Brazil and people from each state had a different accent, I found it very interesting. Well, and one thing coming out of American culture, my theory and how everyone under 40 was created watching the msms things on the net, cable tv, msms movies, school books and more mto, everyone learned to speak the way msma. Houston is now an international city, the 3rd largest metropolitan area in the US and growing more than any other. Pride of being Texan, but in the end I do not have any friends with that "Texas" accent and no horse

You really should go there and listen by yourself.. trust me. Also, Brazil is no special snowflake, last bottle of water in the desert, every country has many different accents even the smaller ones. Take the azores archipelago as an example as even cities have different accents apart from each other.

And as you know different accents over the course of the time evolve into different languages when isolated long enough. You are coming to this conclusion ignoring a bunch of simple plain facts about language, don't reply to me with this he said she said thing, go and listen by yourself. I won't reply any further.

Why should I go there? Even Kmack and Bobby said here all Americans speak general american accent in big cities, aka Standard American English accent. And that Texan man said the same thing. Only rural Southerns dont sound standard American English there. Also that Texas guy lived in many big cities but youre the expert here. Hes also living in Brazil and was shocked because each State here has an accent.

Lots of big cities have their own accents, such as New York, Boston, or Chicago.
