Bullshit on the cost of food being the reason poor people have become fatter. It's because eating bigger portions and not caring about your diet is "macho".
Healthy food is actually cheaper than processed crap. Vegetables, fruits, chicken, beans and rice... all very cheap. They're trying to blame capitalism for peoples own poor decisions.

This in a nutshell; it comes down to self discipline and having willpower to make the change. Innovating and using your mind to create different variety of foods from these basic ingredients will make a huge difference in the long run. Exercising and monitoring your dietary intakes on a daily basis will make a huge difference in the long run. Drinking mostly water & milk, eating healthy fruits/vegetables/meats, eating in moderation, etc. will make a huge difference in the long run. By cutting off junk foods, sodas, fruit juices, etc. that have tons of sugars and bad cholesterol will go a long way to a healthier body and mind. What people don't realize is that; the heavier you are; you burn more calories through daily, vigorous exercising than a skinnier person whom is mostly bone and lithe muscle. Due to all the buildup of visceral fat in one's body that is linked with serious heart and cancerous, life threatening conditions.
“The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far. The sciences, each straining in its own direction, have hitherto harmed us little; but some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new dark age.”
