Slavic began to differentiate from Baltic around 1500BC, in the southern periphery of the Baltic-Slavic dialect continuum. The presence of Eastern Iranian loanwords and Scythian artifacts in this particular culture makes me inclined to associate pre-Slavic with Chernoles-Komarov. This contact in particular, together with the later association with the Vistula Veneti, responsible for the strong Celtic substratum in modern Slavic languages, was essential for the beginning of the identification of Slavs as a distinct ethnic group, which probably occured around 200BC, with Zarubintsy, already showing strong La Tené Venetic influences.

The Russians are easier because of the lesser influence of the southern peoples. I think that the Balts were originally so. And, maybe, these are not balts, but the undifferentiated Baltic Slavs. This version does not contradict all versions.
PS We are not as white as laboratory mice - Veps or Karelians. In our Central European pigmentation there are no dark types or very few.

Scandinavian contribution to the gene pool was. But over time it became invisible among the numerous Balto-Slavs. I1a is a local haplogroup in Russia. It's from the Paleo-Europeans. And in Scandinavia I1a from the paleo-Europeans. It's just that we have a common ancient substrate.
