    I agree there. Turks in Europe often come from the most conservative regions of Turkey, of course. Erdoğan's policies are also creating a fertile soil for such people to grow in influence.

    I personally was alienated at how she seemingly considered Saudi Arabia a 'normal country'.

    Although quite a lot of Turks are religious, mainstream Turkish culture is more secular and religious people often feel marginalized, spesifically young women because of hijab. That's why some of them have a fascination for Arabic culture and language which they feel to belong more.
