The phenotypical difference between mainland Greece and the Greek islands is not as big as you make it out to be. For example, I posted some northern Greeks here and you guessed them as Cretans. Not only that, but I have posted other threads with mainland Greeks and they were mostly dark haired and brown eyed, they could easily pass in south Italy. You happen to think that mainland Greeks look like Slavs (round faces, blonde hair, blue eyes and generally other Slavic features). Not even Serbs fit that stereotype, let alone mainland Greeks.
I don’t say that all mainlanders pass in the islands, there is a good number who looks Balkan and can’t pass, but most can pass in the Greek islands.
