Default What do to in Toronto?

Me and my girlfriend will be spending the month of august in Toronto, mostly in order to improve our English skills. Are there any Canadian members aroud that could give us some tips regarding places to visit in Toronto?

I'd be interested mostly in tips regarding nightlife (pubs, not clubs) and touristic areas, however I'd also appreciate if you had any tips regarding not-so touristic places, such as parks and places to spend the afternoons.

CN Tower, Royal Ontario Museum, Casa Loma, Ripley’s Aquarium, Toronto Zoo, Ontario Science Centre, Canada's Wonderland, Centre Island to name a few off the top of my head.

There's a bunch of events in town this August:

    - Caribana
    - Veld Music Festival
    - OVO Fest
    - Taste of the Danforth
    - CNE (Canadian National Exhibition) * this one is super popular with the locals every year

If you rent a car and want to see some nature, go up to Cottage country aka Muskoka, Kawarthas, Haliburton, etc. Or even Collingwood/Blue Mountain area, Wasaga Beach and the Scarborough Bluffs.

    The ROM, really cool museum
    Nathan Phillips Square
Brazen Head Pub was nice, haven't been in a little while tho.
Williams Landing, it's a pub I'm pretty sure

I'd suggest not going around the Jane and Finch area, I don't live near there so I can't vouch for it 100% but I hear it's not a great area to go to.

According to some wackos saying wear a bullet proof vest in those areas is "racist".
