Can you tell what region of the country someone is from by their style of dress/general appearance?

Is there are a certain difference in preference for clothing choices, style of grooming, or even phenotype? I have been told by many that I look Southern .When I visit the more Northern states, I seem to stick out like a sore thumb, and I'm not even self aware. Style of grooming , perhaps? Southern men have a different grooming pattern than northern men. I live in the Southern tip of the Mid Atlantic states (virginia). Which teeters on the North/South divide. But our history, culture, and everything else was definitely part of the Old South. Mom's side of the family has been in the Richmond ,VA area since the 1600s. There does seem to be a local pheonotype in this area. Which people notice. I know that Southern Preppies in my area wear more vibrant colors, comb their hair different than the New England ones. What do Y'all think?

Guys in Eastern North Carolina all dress like frat boys. They all drive big jacked up trucks even though they’re short

In many cases yes. Californians are usually easy for me to recognize too.

I don't know. I think that on average the Northern men are shorter. There are many taller people in the South. In Virginia we have lots of tall people because of all the Scots settlers. I see lots of both men and women over the 6 ft range. I am only 5'11 and felt like a giant when I was visiting Upstate New York- all the men folk were 5'8 on average.

I see that's the big difference from the Northern frats and Southern ones. The Northern men wear athletic shorts to meetings! They don't dress up. The Southern frats always dress up more. But... I was never part of a Fraternity. I only know a few people that were. Hampden-Sydney .

I'm from NY and 6ft.

Ohio men are taller than southern men
