Middle age is the period of life where people aren't r young, nor old, but they are still very physically adaptable. No one under 40, IMO, is middle age. No one in their 30's should be considered middle age. Years ago, it may have been the case , when people were worn out and haggard much earlier in life. But I think of middle age as being the time when you have more life experience, and are more "settled" , and know who you are.

Okay , well according a recent survey in the UK, "youth" ends at 35, (18-35 is a young person), And "old age" apparently starts at 58... ? Not sure, but probably most of the people they are were asking were in their teens or early 20s. So I guess to younger people, middle aged is some one between 35 and 60 years of age. Which isn't far off, but I don't think anyone under 40 should be considered middle age.

Why don't you quit worrying about labels? Accept the fact you are 40 and go on with the rest of your life from here.

Here it is usually between 40-60, but I would put the bar at 45-65 because man in early 40s is still considered quite young.

It means somebody who is past his youth but on financial and career peak, in stable marriage with school age children and politically most influential generation. In my country most of CEOs, big menagers, bosses, top politicans have most important career period in that age. After 65 it is pension time and old age starts.

    For me it's that:

    0-3 = Early Childhood
    4-7 = Core Childhood
    8-11 = Late Childhood
    12-15 = Adolescence

    16-23 = Early Young Adulthood
    24-31 = Core Young Adulthood
    32-39 = Late Young Adulthood

    40-47 = Early Middle Age
    48-55 = Core Middle Age
    56-63 = Late Middle Age

    64-71 = Early Elderhood
    72-79 = Core Elderhood
    80-87 = Late Elderhood

    88-95 = Early Post Elderhood
    96-103 = Core Post Elderhood
    104-111 = Late Post Elderhood

112 and beyond = Extreme Elderhood
