Default Armenia unconditionally asks Turkey to establish diplomatic ties and border opening by Turkey

Armenia ready to establish diplomatic relations with Turkey without any preconditions – PM

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan deems as strange Turkey’s stance to link the relations with Armenia with those of a third country. Pashinyan’s comments came at a meeting with number of culture representatives and artists in St. Petersburg, when asked to comment on Turkey’s refusal to normalise relations with Armenia unless the conflict around Nagorno Karabakh is solved.

“Turkey was the one who closed the border with Armenia. We can say the border is not closed on the Armenia side. We attach high importance to the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide, and our country is one of the frontrunners in the struggle against the crime of genocide,” Pashinyan stressed, pointing the issue [genocide recognition] should not be viewed in the context of the Armenian-Turkish relations but rather in the global struggle against genocides.

“We are ready to establish diplomatic relations with Turkey without any preconditions,” concluded the PM.

We already tried that before. What's the difference now? I don't know... They need to stop attacking Azerbaijan.

Turkey is not willing to either recognize the Armenian genocide or start relations with Armenia. Typical Turkey, it cannot invade Armenia like Cyprus or Syria or Iraq, so it makes a blockade on Armenia...

Yep, if mother Russia wasnt in the background, we all know that Turkey would have longtime ago invaded Armenia.
NK shouldnt be Turkey's buisiness and I think the attacks are on both sides not simply case of Armenians attacking Azerbaijan.
Good on Armenia for taking this step.

Nope, the attacks are primarily perpetrated by Azerbaijan. They aren't coming from both sides, and Armenians only want to build and develop their stronghold. Usually, ceasefire violations and infiltrators come from Azerbaijan's side of the border. Armenians have already emerged victorious in the Karabakh War (1988-1994), they don't have a motive to act aggressively. Armenia's Karabakh Stronghold also repulsed and defeated a surprise attack in April, 2016. And, they have strategic positions around their civilian populations to provide greater protection.

Would make little sense for Armenia to attack 'poor and weak' Azerbaijan, because Azerbaijan has a larger population and military. So I also read 'Turkish nationalism' I could just dismiss here.

After Czar Nicholas II was deposed, the Bolshevik Russians turned their backs upon the Armenian Highlands and walked away, in 1917. In the 1920s, Stalin provided financial aid, weapons, and land concessions to Ataturk's Turkey. Because of the Bolshevik Russians, many Armenians and Greeks lost their lives after World War I.

Again, in 1988, Gorbachev sided against Armenia, and the USSR backed Azerbaijan's endeavor to ethnically cleanse Karabakh. The same thing was done in Nakhichevan, where Armenians didn't offer resistance. Predictably, Armenians were completely purged from Nakhichevan, and their cultural landmarks there were destroyed; but, Karabakh didn't permit that, and emerged victorious in 1994. It was only in 1991 that Boris Yeltsin reversed Gorbachev's Soviet policy, and Russia formed an alliance with Armenia's stronghold.

Fortunately Armenia and Russia now have a signed military alliance agreement that ensures cooperation between the two countries, well into the middle of the 21st Century. "Russia maintains in Gyumri (formerly, Alexandropol), north of Yerevan, one of its military bases abroad (102nd Military Base) as part Russia′s Transcaucasian Group of Forces; the relevant treaty was extended until 2044 in 2010."

Red Herring Ad Hominem attack detected.

And, I'm not ducking the question: Yes, I've been in Armenia.
I was an official guest in Armenia, during the Karabakh War.
