'Extremadura' was the name that during Reconquista was given to the recent territory taken from the moors.

So Soria, in north Spain was once named 'Extremadura' too.

Or other version of the name:

El nombre de Extremadura deriva del latín Extrema Dorii —«Extremos del Duero», o más bien «en el otro extremo» del Duero, haciendo referencia a su posición al sur de este río—, con el que se designaban los territorios situados al sur de la cuenca del río Duero y sus afluentes.

My Spanish mom was almost full Mallorcan, with the exception of the maternal grandmother of her dad, who it seems that she was from Castilla-Leon (not sure). So my mother was very likely like 87.5% Mallorcan, and the reminding 12.5% Castellano-Leonese (?)

On my Venezuelan dad's side, I know my dad had some Canarian ancestry, including a surname back on his paternal family that is Portuguese sounding, but I did my research and is of Canarian origin (I'm not sure if that being Portuguese sounding could indicate some Portuguese origin of that Canarian surname), and maybe also (I'm speculating here) some Castilian and Andalusian.
