Who is your most favorite folklore character, and why?

For me it is definitely a goblin. This creature originates from germanic culture, as a creature called Kobold. It affected me through Hobbits, WOW, and other movies. I am addicted to Tolkien, and Blizzard. Do not know a lot about real flklore thought. What about you guyz? How did folklore impact on you.
