Cultural heterogeneity might cause some contradictions. Multi ethnic or racial societies would not be problematic as far as minorities integrate into the culture and the language.

Compare Europe from as far back as you want, up until the 1970s. Now from the 1970s to today. Much time has been spent on social issues rather than technological advancement. We now care more about how many genders there are than space and ocean exploration. Nothing more needs to be said. Competition breeds progress.

i think a homogeneous society works better on long term..so much more to unite them in difficult situations. heterogenious societies work well only in time of peace and prosperity. people can be loyal to one cause only.
