The Mesoamerican and Andean areas were the only regions that could be said to have had real civilizations. The rest of the Indians were at various levels of prehistoric savagery.

There aren't much Indian "Civilizations"

That being said, Mayans were the ancestral to Indian civilization, so it has it's own space. Aztecs built the greatest cities especially Tenochtitlan (destroyed unfortunately), Incas were the only Indian "Empire", rest of Indian civilizations were city states with vassals but Incas actually annexed territories and integrated it within their Empire.

Aztecs were maniacs obsessed with death, Incas were rather more sane; but Aztecs were literate and used mathematics, i think they were more advanced.
