Basically the winds are weaker in Finland. Makes sense. Sweden protects Finland from forest fire becoming worse by causing a less windy climate for their land.

    Nope ''Belgi'' !
You could't make up anything better?

Finland's emergency services department simply is that good.

Oh yes, that was also mentioned in the article. My Finnish understanding is google translate quality. But it said this

But then it emphasises that the Finnish authorities are far better prepared for disasters like these.

And I have seen this from (23 days ago, however). A milder yet another heat wave happened then.

I figure it's worse now? And it's probably still true that the fires in Sweden are far worse than those in Finland now.

    Correct.

Finland does't have forest fires now. Finns got those in control already at July. Despite of it has been very hot and dry here too. Those forest fires never got as bad as in Sweden. Why? Because Finnish authorities reacted much quicker and more stronger .... immediately as they noticed those. No matter it was main holiday season and officially many firemen etc. were in their holidays. Just a same ways as in Sweden. Finland also have more material/equipment for doing things like that.

For sure there has been lots of discussion in Sweden. They have election coming soon now. These kind of summers (hot & dry) will most likely become more and more common in the future => I'm sure Sweden will react someway on this ... and next time they are much better prepared.

What separates good countries (= people/ethnic/cultures) from others? They ''admit'' and ''learn'' about their own mistakes. Not gonna hide those or escape about responsibilities.
