Default Inside Facebook's 'severe' traffic decline

    The New York Post reports:

Four billion. That, according to a new study shared with CNBC by market research firm SimilarWeb, is how many monthly page visits Facebook has shed in a slow-drip, but nevertheless huge, decline over the last two years.

Facebook’s traffic hasn’t just fallen by about half since 2016, according to the study. Among the consequences of such a precipitous drop is the opening it’s given to YouTube, which the study’s data shows is about to overtake Facebook to become the second biggest site, traffic-wise, in the US. Which would give Google ownership of the top two spots, pushing Facebook down to number three.

    Imagine that.

The abuse or living "hypnotized" behind a computer or cell phone is one of the biggest curses of technology. Our morphology it is not made to be sedentary, nor our psyche to be virtually connected but lonely in reality.
I deleted probably 10 years ago my first facebook account, firstly it was cool and dandy and all that, but after a while it became a martyrdom. I utilize facebook and other apps presently still, but in a very specific context and only to communicate with people from abroad. With my close friends with whom I'm with regularly, I keep the communication minimal, mostly to make plans etc.
These kind of communication tools are useful when used in temperance, however it can't be synonymous of replacement of real life face to face human interaction. It can't beat the purpose of what verily relationships are but alas many time it is.

    .
Exactly. You clearly the see effects in society what has happened.
People sit too much, attention spans dropping, addictions forming, people sit with facebook or video games all day instead of meeting people,
more introverts, more social/mental problems, less mature young adults, etc.

When I was much younger made a mistake with pc/video games.
Now come here for an hour or two to chill, check my emails, read/learn, no social apps, no cell/smart phone, no cable tv, and life is better.

Honestly, most of these social media sites are built on sand. Facebook has staying power due to its user base, but it has peaked. People move quickly to the next social media trend and FB is already dated.
