I still reiterate that the Western media and politicians were biased against the Serbs. Consider that:

(1) The KLA were a bunch of Islamist gangsters.
(2) Izetbegovic possibly wanted an Islamic state in Bosnia.
(3) A few months before the infamous Srebenica massacre, Muslim soldiers killed hundreds of Serbs at the same place.
(4) The Siege of Sarajevo was partly a defensive mechanism, given how Bosnian Serb soldiers in 1992 were attacked by Muslim militias even while withdrawing from the city, as had been agreed internationally at the time.

Those blue countries had their state propaganda support the war, but I remember most people here being against the invasion even prior from it happening. People even saw it as it was here. An invasion under a forged casus belli.

Interestingly, most American on the internet truly believed it was a just war. Many also were legit angry at France for threatening to veto a resolution for authorising the war... All of them now are thinking back in shame of their naivité.

Not a single one of those anti-French memes are standing on the internet, but it used to be full of those on the internet back then. Why? Because mainstream Americans nowadays would agree with Chirac over their own president, a very shameful thing to think about.

I remember those days. I remember joining in protest marches myself. The vast majority of the population wasn't looking forward to any "adventures" (the country was still suffering from the "Srebrenica Trauma" ) and the The Hague Invasion Act did considerable damage to Dutch-American bilateral relations. As for the public image of the Americans ? Well, only De Telegraaf would have remained "pro-American", the rest became highly critical to the point of making up fake stories on behalf of socialist opposition parties. When you combine these factors with the eternal headache, that was the JSF Project and the fact that the Americans never showed any sign of appreciation for the help they'd been offered or also refused to repeal the The Hague Invasion Act once Obama took over, didn't really add to America's population even after we had withdrawn.

I'd say that the only thing that actually saved those relations from souring further was the Ukranian situation. Particularly in the wake of MH17.

There is also a perverse irony when people label either Serbia or, for that matter, Israel as being 'Nazi-like'. In the former's case, it was Croatian leader Franjo Tudjman, not Milosevic, who was a blatant anti-Semite and openly praised the Ustashe. In the latter's case, it is Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas who has a PhD in Holocaust denial and has openly praised the Nazi collaborator Haj Amin el-Husseini. (And this is before we even begin with Hamas, whose entire ideology is riddled with totalitarianism and anti-Semitism).
