Chinaman is silly because it is Chinese man it would be as silly as Englandman or Hollandman Englishman is actually the equivalent to Chinese man not Chinaman

Not used in Spain, I think it was a derogarory word in the Anglosphere to refer to any chinese. I suppose not by all. I don't know if it is still used. Maybe not yet.

Because it's not even a real word.
Saying Chinaman would be like saying Englandman, Walesman, Netherlandsman,...
It sounds utterly ridiculous.
It probably sprung up as a racist imitative mockery based on the prejudiced idea of how a Chinese person with poor English skills might introduce themselves.
